Bethany’s refugee and immigrant services
The problems facing refugees and immigrants
More than 79 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to conflict, violence, persecution, or human rights violations, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). At Bethany, our faith compels us to act on behalf of these vulnerable people, the vast majority of whom are women and children.

Connecting refugees and immigrants to their community
For refugee children resettled in the U.S. without a family, we connect them with foster families where they find love, support, and a home base that continues into adulthood. For unaccompanied kids seeking protection in the U.S., we connect them with short-term foster families until we can reunite them with a family member. Through our post-release services, we continue supporting refugee and asylum-seeking families through a safe and smooth transition and connection into the community.

Leave a legacy of love: foster refugee children
Refugees resettling in the U.S. have experienced a difficult journey. When you become a foster parent, you'll help a refugee child feel safe, loved, and supported as they navigate life in a new place.

Refugee foster care
Refugee families are sometimes separated due to death, illness, or imprisonment. When family reunification isn't possible, children are considered unaccompanied minors. For these children, the best option is to be cared for by a foster care family.
Transitional foster care
Unaccompanied children entering the U.S. need what all children need—a loving environment where they are cared for and safe. But it can take a few months until they’re reunited with their family. That’s why we offer transitional foster care.
Refugee resettlement services
For the first three to six months after a refugee arrives in the U.S., we collaborate with volunteers, churches, schools, and service providers to ensure refugees thrive in the U.S. We prepare housing, provide case management and employment services, offer cultural orientation, and assist with school enrollment.
Refugee employment services
Having a job helps each of us find purpose. For refugees, a job also brings stability. In Michigan and Pennsylvania, we help refugees successfully enter the workforce and advance their career.
Anti-trafficking education
Bethany provides support to trafficking survivors and their families through our Trafficking Victims Assistance Program (TVAP). The program offers access to basic resources—at no cost—including food, clothing, housing, employment, and more.
Trauma counseling
If you or a loved one are a victim of torture, trauma, or sexual abuse, contact Bethany to learn how we can support you.
