Regional Branch Director
Mark Unger has over 18 years of experience working in Child Welfare. Prior to becoming a Director at Bethany, Mark was a Foster Care Social Worker, A Family Development Specialist and Family Resource Specialist. He sees as his purpose to use his gifts, talents and abilities to bring honor to God. Mark and his wife have two married daughters who both live in in the area, so they are blessed to be near their family, especially their grandchildren.
Assistant Branch Director, MA, LPC
Jamie serves as the Assistant Branch Director for Central Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She is a licensed professional counselor with over 15 years working in child welfare. Jamie also serves in the counseling services program. She values Bethany’s ability to bring faith into the services being provided and ensuring that all clients recognize their value.
Foster Care Adoption Supervisor, LSW
Aryn is a licensed social worker serving as a supervisor in the foster care and counseling program. In addition, she is a clinician in the following programs at Bethany Christian Services: ADOPTS, Clinical Equine, and General Counseling. Aryn has worked in the child welfare field for approximately ten years and is passionate about her work with children and families in need.
Carol has worked at Bethany more than 10 years, and she provides a broad scope of support to the regional director. She devotes much of her time to raising funds through grant writing, enabling Bethany to serve more children and families.
Cheryl is a licensed psychologist, certified Theraplay therapist, and a registered clinician with ATTACh (Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment). She has designed, implemented, provided services, and fulfilled the role of supervisory/consulting psychologist in a specialized treatment program for children/adolescents and their parents/families with diagnoses associated with reactive attachment disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and developmental trauma disorder. At Bethany since 2013, Cheryl is providing outpatient psychotherapy, parent support groups, parent consultations, and trainings for parents and professionals. She is also the consulting psychologist for attachment and trauma issues for clinical services.
Foster Care Adoption Intake Coordinator, BA
Donya has worked for more than 20 years in Foster Care and Foster Care Adoption. She has worked at Bethany since 2010 and is working in the Post Permanency Department as a Caseworker.
As a therapist, Doreen supports families in their adoption journeys and creates a safe place for children who were adopted or in foster care to grow and heal. At Bethany since 2011, she feels blessed to work in an organization where she can combine her Christian faith with her professional career. Doreen and her husband are joyfully raising three children.
Gloria Stoudt serves as the Office Coordinator for Bethany Christian Services. She also provides administrative support for domestic and international adoption. She has over 30 years of experience in business, including management and supervisory roles. Gloria and her husband, Don, are Lancaster natives and have two, biological sons. Having been a foster parent for over 10 years, Gloria understands that parenting, in any form, is not only a huge commitment, but also an honor that brings about many blessings.
Foster Care Adoption Supervisor, BA, MDiv
Heather has served as a foster parent and worked with families through foster care and pastoral ministry for nearly ten years. She is driven to see brokenness restored and healing released in anyone God brings her way. Heather and her husband have three biological children and love exploring cultures and places.
Post-Adoption Services Case Manager, MSW
Since 2012, Julia has provided hope, healing, and post-adoption services to adoptive families at Bethany. She deeply understands the unique challenges adoptive families face. She celebrates family strengths, works with families to build stronger relationships, and teaches trauma-informed parenting. Julia also facilitates a monthly support group for adoptive parents.
Post-Adoption Services Program Coordinator , LSW
As program coordinator for Post-Adoption Services, Lisa is thrilled to be in a position she absolutely loves! Her primary passion is providing education and training to adoptive parents and the professionals who surround the families. In the past Lisa has served as local coordinator for a summer hosting program for orphans. Lisa and her husband, Joe, are grateful to be parents of six adult children, two of whom are adopted, and grandparents to eleven, four of whom are adopted.
Foster Care Administrative Assistant/Counseling Referral Specialist
Missi Buhay has worked with the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network for 9 years in various roles. She is excited to see a whole different aspect of child welfare. In addition to counseling referrals and case aid duties, Missi will also conduct foster care and foster care adoption orientations.
Post-Adoption Services Case Manager, LSW
An Adoptee from Ethiopia, Patience has a passion for working with families and brings a wealth of knowledge in regards to working with youth and navigating the education system. She started at Bethany in 2012 as an intern and recently started in her current position where she serves as a Post-Adoption Services Case Manager.
Sarah L. Huber
Foster Care Case Aide
Sarah Huber joined Bethany Christian Services in 2018 after working in retail office management for eight years. She is thankful to have the opportunity to be involved in foster care by supporting the staff, as well as the children and families that Bethany serves.
Coordinator for Cultural Orientation and Mentoring
Sharon Sponsler joined the staff of Bethany Refugee Services in January 2017. Working with refugees as the Coordinator for Cultural Orientation & Mentoring, she loves working with this people group as it allows her use her cross cultural background as a TCK (third culture kid) and a missionary for ten years in Budapest, Hungary. She is also excited about mobilizing others in the local community to journey alongside refugee families. Sharon and her husband, Tom, have three children.
Adoption Worker, MPA
Jessica has been working in the field of adoption for Bethany Christian Services since February 2001. She is also an adoptive mother, having adopted her daughter from China in 2005.
Parent Advocate, BA

I've worked as a pregnancy counselor for over 8 years and it’s been an honor to walk through the decision-making process, with so many men and women. Adoption Caseworker, BS
Lea has worked for Bethany for seven years, with involvement in international, foster care and domestic infant adoptions. Lea loves advocating for children waiting for forever families and supporting families through the adventure of adoption. In addition to her professional involvement in adoption, Lea and her husband are parents to their son who was adopted internationally.
Clinical Supervisor, LSW
Melissa serves as the clinical supervisor of Bethany’s foster care and counseling programs. Melissa has served in child welfare for nearly 18 years and is passionate about caring for the needs of children and families involved in the foster care system. Melissa is a firm believer that a child’s future is not defined by their experiences of the past, and she is excited to support a team focused on helping children heal.
