Your child’s strong foundation starts here
Healthy development begins before birth, and a child’s first three years are critical. Healthy Families Indiana gives you the skills you need to give your child a strong start.
Family Support for your child’s early years
Healthy Families Indiana (HFI) is a free and voluntary home visiting program designed to help expectant parents and families with young children build strong, healthy, and nurturing relationships.
WHO: Expectant parents, parents, and caregivers of children ages 0-3
WHAT: Individualized coaching to build your confidence, strengthen parenting skills, support healthy child development, access community resources, and establish goals that promote your family’s long-term stability and well-being
WHERE: In your home or other comfortable community space—our family support specialists come to you
WHEN: Visit frequency is tailored to your family’s needs and program guidelines
WHY: We believe every family deserves to be safe, loved, and connected
You are SAFE
You are LOVED
At Bethany we believe children are safer when families are stronger. HFI is designed to strengthen parenting skills, improve family stability, and reduce risk factors that could lead to child welfare involvement.
You are LOVED
Our HFI family support specialists build trusting, relational connections with parents and caregivers. Visits are individualized, family-centered, and focused on your family's strengths, goals, and hopes for your children.
You are CONNECTED
We’ll connect you with community resources that can help meet your family’s specific needs and help you thrive, including healthcare, housing, childcare, education, transportation, behavioral health services, and more.
-
HFI supports Marion County families beginning during pregnancy and throughout the critical early years of child development. Specifically, HFI is for expectant parents and families with infants and young children (birth to age 3).
-
You may be preparing for the birth of a child, adjusting to life with a newborn, navigating parenting challenges, experiencing stress or isolation, or seeking support and resources to help their child thrive. HFI provides early support, education, and connections to community resources to families before challenges become crises.
-
A variety of community partners refer families to HFI, such as hospitals, healthcare providers, WIC, DCS, early childhood programs, and outreach events. But your participation is always voluntary and free of charge.
-
We work with families early, during pregnancy or shortly after birth, before parenting challenges become crises. Rather than requiring you to come to an office, a trained family support specialist will meet you in your home or other community setting and tailor services to your family’s strengths, goals, and needs.
-
For more than 80 years, Bethany’s mission has been protecting children, empowering youth, and strengthening families. Other ways we’re supporting Indiana children and families beyond HFI include post-adoption support, Parents and Children Together (PACT), foster care, and short-term immigrant foster care.
