Bethany Christian Services Applauds U.S. Acceptance of Ukrainian Refugees

March 24, 2022

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Bethany Christian Services today applauded the Biden administration’s announcement that the United States will welcome 100,000 refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.

“Millions of Ukrainian families have been forced to leave everything behind as Russia continues its attacks on innocent men, women, and children,” said Chris Palusky, President and CEO of Bethany. “This decision allowing the United States to welcome our neighbors affected by the violence is encouraging and will provide hope for those who have experienced unfathomable trauma and loss. Bethany remains committed to serving vulnerable children and families in the U.S. and around the world as we work to help them find the support, security, and care they deserve.”

“We’re pleased that the Biden administration has committed to taking in Ukrainian refugees and others affected by the violence in Ukraine. This is a good first step, but more remains to be done as millions of families from surrounding countries also continue to flee life-or-death situations. Our faith compels us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we will work tirelessly alongside our community partners to welcome them with open arms,” said Tawnya Brown, Senior Vice President of Global, Refugee and Immigrant Services.
