(FAIR LAWN, N.J., August 2017) – Bethany Christian Services, a global nonprofit committed to bringing and keeping families together, has announced Yesenia Fermin as the new executive director for the organization’s Fair Lawn office. Fermin will assumed her role on August 7.

Prior to joining Bethany, Fermin worked as the assistant executive director at YWCA Union County where she was responsible for oversight and development of the organization’s direct service programs and staff. Fermin’s experience in working with therapeutic recreation patients and survivors of abuse will add a unique perspective to the Bethany branch in Fair Lawn, which provides adoption and foster care services, along with pregnancy counseling.

“I fell in love with Bethany not just because of all the amazing programs offered, but because of the organization’s heart,” said Fermin. “I have worked with faith-based organizations where the heart wasn’t there. Immediately after meeting with Bethany staff, I was able to see how committed they truly are to living their mission.”

Fermin earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and began working as an in-home counselor for the family preservation and therapeutic visitation programs at Catholic Charities. She soon found her passion in social work and earned her master’s degree in 2010 with a specialty in Violence Against Women and Children.

Among her vast responsibilities as executive director, Fermin plans to spread services for Bethany into New York. She aims to build strong relationships with her staff and members of the surrounding community.
