Adoption Community Group
Event Details
Join us in a warm and welcoming space where adoptive and kinship families come together to connect, share a meal, and engage in meaningful conversations. Whether you’re a caregiver, teen, or child, there’s a place for everyone to connect and feel seen and supported.
A pizza dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Then, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., everyone will split into groups, one for parents and separate groups for teens and kids.
This year’s discussion will focus on topical issues. The parents will watch a short video and discuss helpful parenting strategies. The teens will work on simple art projects while discussing meaningful topics. The elementary-age kids will participate in planned, sensory-rich activities in the gym, led by a special needs coordinator with extensive experience in meeting diverse, individual needs.
We ask that any families attending who do not currently have post-permanency services through the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN) reach out to the SWAN Helpline at (800) 585-7926 or [email protected] to request these FREE services. Families can request all services (case advocacy, respite, and support group) or support group only, which does not require a meeting in the family home, just a phone call from you to request support group services. The funds SWAN provides help us continue to offer groups at no cost to you!
