Bethany Christian Services Receives Grant for Safe Families Program Chapters in Butler and Westmoreland Counties

August 08, 2022

WEXFORD, PA – Bethany Christian Services was awarded $25,000 by the Grifols Foundation for the Safe Families for Children program chapters in Butler and Westmoreland counties. Bethany’s Safe Families program offers a caring, compassionate community for families in need of extra help when navigating difficult circumstances.

“At Bethany, we believe that family changes everything and that strong families create stronger communities. As parents across Pennsylvania and our nation are facing challenges from pandemic-related illnesses to inflation to unemployment, no one should have to navigate these difficult situations alone,” said Bob Sherwin, Director of Bethany’s Western Pennsylvania branch. “Our Safe Families for Children program provides support for parents experiencing difficulties caring for themselves or their children by connecting them with a supportive community that can lift up and empower them. We’re grateful to the Grifols Foundation for their generosity and the impact their gift will make in the lives of families and children across Western Pennsylvania.”

Bethany recruits, vets, and trains volunteers to provide a network of support for struggling and isolated families, stepping in to bridge the gap when a support system is not readily available. Through the Safe Families for Children program, families in crisis can receive voluntary emergency care from family coaches, family friends, and host families as they work through a difficult situation.
