Yesenia Fermin

Executive Director - Fair Lawn

Yesenia joined Bethany Christian Services in 2017 as the executive director of the New Jersey and New York offices. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers in 2010 and is a licensed clinical social worker. She is also a clinician for Bethany's counseling program. She has been working in the field of child welfare for over 18 years and has done a lot of work with marginalized individuals. Her background also includes working with refugees and survivors of human trafficking, torture, persecution and domestic violence.

Candyce Mayers

Candyce Mayers

UAC Supervisor - Fair Lawn

Candyce Mayers joined Bethany Christian Services in 2018 as the UAC Supervisor. She earned her master’s degree in social work from Monmouth University in 2014. She has over ten years of experience serving children and families affected by domestic violence and engaging in family reunification services. Candyce is an ordained elder in the AME church and serves as the director of her local youth group.

UAC Case Manager - Fair Lawn

Claudia Santa-Cruz graduated in 2010 from Kean University with a Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) and in 2018 from Drew University Theological School with a Master of Divinity (MDiv). Claudia joins Bethany with six and a half years of experience working with domestic violence survivors. She serves in her local church as a member of the Trustees and as part of the leadership team. Claudia feels honored and blessed to be part of Bethany Christian Services and have the opportunity to respond to God’s call in her life by serving others.

Nelson Santana

UAC Case Manager, UAC Post Release - LIRS - Fair Lawn

Nelson Santana recently joined Bethany Christian Services’ UAC Program. He earned his master’s degree in counseling from Kean University in 2017. He has experience working with children and undocumented families. He enjoys working with undocumented children and loves being part of a team that aims to ease their transition to the United States by providing resources and information necessary for their success. He loves to play guitar and serves on the worship team at his local church.

Sinnamon Shelton

Pregnancy Counselor and Adoption Specialist - Fair Lawn

Sinnamon Shelton earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2018 from Rutgers University and is a licensed social worker. She has experience working with children in a therapeutic environment and is committed to providing a necessary support network for families. Sinnamon feels blessed to be part of Bethany Christian Services, providing care and support to the people we serve everyday.

Windy Ortega

UAC Case Manager - Fair Lawn

Windy joined Bethany Christian Services in 2018. She has experience working with Child Protective Services’ foster care and adoption programs and victims of domestic violence and survivors of sexual assault. She is now working as a case manager in our UC program and feels blessed to serving unaccompanied minors and being a part of their journey.

Michael Avila

Michael Avila

Wraparound Therapist - Fair Lawn

Michael received his MSW from CUNY Lehman College. He is currently an LMSW who is a strong advocate for underserved youth and Latino populations. Michael has worked for the past 6 years in NYC serving at risk youth and communities. He is honored to be a part of change for the undocumented community and assist in recreating the true narrative of what it means to be an immigrant.

Katrina Rubino feels blessed to work in the UAC program at Bethany Christian Services. She enjoys watching undocumented children improve their future and recover from trauma.
