Opportunity Details
Volunteer tutors needed for teens and adults learning English. Many youth struggle with school work or having difficulty passing their GED courses. Refugee adults are provided with an Oxford Dictionary upon arrival, but need additional English practice to apply for jobs, navigate the bus system, plan daily activities etc.
Our staff is equipped to offer training and resources for anyone who wants to be matched with a client. By working with our tutor coordinator, a volunteer matched one on one with a client, has the tools needed to give additional English learning support. No experience required or foreign language knowledge, just patience and determination.
If you are interested in supporting a refugee adult or youth through a tutoring partnership, we have a few important requirements to get started:
*6-9 month commitment
*Agree to stay in contact (at least monthly) with Bethany staff during length of tutor match
*Complete an application and undergo background screenings and training
