Executive Director - Florida/Alabama - Central Florida

Laurie Stern joined Bethany in 2018 after working in child welfare for over 16 years. She comes to Bethany after six years working within Juvenile Justice reform as well as 9 years within the local child welfare system. Her passion has always been helping families. Laurie earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Troy University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Laurie resides in Winter Garden and in her free time enjoys being a boy mom to two boys and spending time with her husband.

Holly Kern, LICSW

Branch Director/Adoption Specialist - Mobile

Holly Kern joined Bethany Christian Services in 2016 as an Adoption Specialist and took over as the Satellite Branch Director in 2020. She has worked as a clinical social worker for over 20 years in Louisiana, North Dakota, and Alabama. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Alabama and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Tulane University. In 2001, Holly also earned her license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, the highest level of licensure available for Alabama social work. Holly currently lives in Spanish Fort, Alabama with her husband and two children.

Tandy White, BSW

Pregnancy Counselor - Mobile/Gulf Coast - Mobile

Tandy joined Bethany Christian Services of the Gulf Coast in 2020. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama and began working for a private adoption agency in Birmingham. There she had the opportunity to work with expectant parents, as well as adoptive families. After she and her husband moved back to Fairhope, Tandy took several years off to be a full-time mom to their four children. She is excited to now be part of the Bethany team and have the opportunity to serve and advocate for expectant parents.
