Finding loving homes for children
We know that children grow best in loving, stable and safe families. That's why, for children unable to live with their families in China, we invite families like yours to adopt them.
Since 1992, thousands of children from China have joined families in the United States.
China country requirements
Meet the Children
Currently more boys are available than girls, and many children have special medical or developmental needs.
Children who are available for adoption range in age from 9 months to 13 years old. They have either been living in orphanages or in foster care.
Due to the greater need in these areas, families open to boys, or children over the age of 5, may receive a referral more quickly than families requesting adoption of a girl or a child under age 5. In China, siblings are rarely available for adoption.

SF-JN #77, Matthew, 10 Years Old
Matthew has a ready smile and a quiet disposition. He loves knobs and buttons! He also enjoys listening to music and playing with musical toys. He is attached to familiar people, likes hugs, and interacts well with other children and staff. Matthew is currently residing with a foster family. This child would benefit/thrive from a resourceful family that would be able to provide love, care, and support. Full referral information is available for this child upon request. This child's file is currently on a "shared list", accessible by multiple agencies, but due to our partnership with Matthew's orphanage, we continue to advocate in search of a family. Please contact your local adoption specialist or your Global worker if you are interested in this child, and we will verify that he is still available for adoption. * Please note that not all children on Bethany’s waiting child site are exclusive to Bethany. Due to our passion for the children we serve and the complexities of the shared list, we may choose to continue to advocate for a child after our agency’s period of exclusivity is expired and that child has returned to the shared list. In these cases, we may be unable to confirm the child’s “waiting” status until a family desires to move forward. We will always do our best to inform an inquiring family if a child is no longer exclusive to Bethany so that they can determine if they are emotionally prepared for the risk the child may no longer be available for adoption once they are ready to move forward.

SF-Bamboo #27, Ishmael, 7 Years Old
In an update from his caregivers in June 2018, they shared: "Currently, Ishmael is able to walk, run, and jump. He can make sounds and is able to say “Baba”, “Mama” and some simple name of his friends. He can feed himself and is able to wear shoes or pants." Ishmael is a quiet, well-behaved little boy who loves to play outside. He can stand for a long time with his hands holding something for support, feed himself with his fingers, and imitate simple words. He is always happy to see his nannies, and when one of them holds him, he wraps his arms around her neck and wants to be held longer. Ishmael is described as a sweet boy who gets along well with the other children. He would benefit from a resourceful family that would be able to provide love, care, and support. Ishmael is living with Down Syndrome and is part of the Bamboo Project developed by Bethany Christian Services. The Bamboo Project allows families access to special grants, such as Bethany's Caring Connections, along with other external grants, and networks of adoptive families that have adopted a child living with Down Syndrome. We have more to share about Ishmael and our Bamboo Project. Though her mobility is limited due to her medical diagnoses, Cora's fine motor skills are strong, and she enjoys drawing and building things, in addition to looking at picture books. Cora would love to be part of a family where she receives the loving care and nurturing of her parents! Full referral information is available for Cora upon request.
