Join Bethany’s virtual walk/run

Participate virtually, May 15-31, 2023. Your registration includes a T-shirt. Determine your own distance—5K, 10K, Half, or more!

Walk, run, or bike to Go Further for Family in your neighborhood, favorite park, or on local trails. No matter where you are, you can help ensure vulnerable kids and families are safe, loved, and connected.

It’s simple to go even further for families by setting up a fundraiser. Determine your distance, set your fundraising goal, and let’s Go Further for Family, together!

Bethany locations hosting an in-person walk/run event

Did you know?

  • Kids in foster care can travel 10 miles from one placement to the next. 
  • Volunteers or foster families can drive up to 100 miles in a week to ensure kids stay connected to their families. 
  • Homeless women may walk an average of 10-15 miles each day to escape domestic violence. Pregnancy further complicates the situation, as it puts two lives at risk. 
  • An unaccompanied child entering the U.S. in EL Paso, Texas, will travel 1,600 miles to Bethany’s headquarters to be placed with a foster family.
  • From the border city of Cúcuta to the capital city of Bogota, Venezuelan refugees cross Colombia by foot, walking 356 miles through the Andes mountain range, without adequate resources to endure the cold and hardship of this route. Some stay in Colombia, but many continue their journey to Ecuador, Perú, or the U.S.A. One thing is sure, most don’t have money to bear the cost of this journey, nor the right shoes or clothing to endure the challenges of walking this high plateau. Their hike reaches 3,600 meters of altitude above sea level while temperatures year-round can drop to 32 degrees. The risks are countless, but the most common are hypothermia, human trafficking, child abduction, famine, exhaustion, and malnutrition.
