Bethany’s global shepherding program

What is the shepherding program?
The future can feel overwhelming for women facing an unexpected pregnancy. Our global shepherding program — currently offered in Albania and Colombia — supports pregnant women and prevents family separation.
We offer individual and group counseling, life skills and parenting courses, access to education and financial support, and connection to community partners.
Where do we offer the shepherding program?
Albania:
We place women in host families throughout the duration of their pregnancies, equipping them with safe and healthy food, hygenic products, and clothing.
Colombia:
We serve migrant and refugee women — including those who are pregnant and those who are breastfeeding, providing access to basic needs, workshops, support groups, and referral services.

Maternal health
Bethany’s services focus on the best interest of the child and the family. That can mean promoting breastfeeding where we are present around the world.
Engaged fathers lead to stronger families
While working with families enrolled in our family preservation program, Bethany’s Ethiopia team recognized that inviting fathers to become more engaged with their children would lead to stronger families.
