Foster Parenting:

Characteristics of Foster Parents
- willingness to accept the rewarding challenge of making a difference in a child's life
- ability to provide nurturing guidance and discipline in a safe environment
- willingness to work as a part of the Bethany Foster Care Treatment Team
- flexibility with changes that arise in the foster care/social services system
- openness to issues as they arise
Responsibilities of Foster Parents
- to provide 24 hour care to meet all the basic needs of the child or children
- to provide transportation for routine visits, medical, and therapeutic appointments
- to maintain accurate records on each child placed with them
- to participate in a minimum of 20 hours per year of educational opportunities provided by Bethany
- to maintain frequent contact with the Bethany caseworker
- to report to Bethany any illness or foster child emergency
- to comply with rules and regulations set by the Colorado State Department of Human Services
- to participate as a member of the Bethany Treatment Team

- certified respite care as needed
- medical and dental care for all foster children through State Medicaid Programs
