Hong Kong
Since 1999, Bethany Christian Services has been dedicated to the special children we serve in Hong Kong through our adoption services. Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, bordering mainland China’s province of Guangdong. As an SAR, Hong Kong is a dependent of the mainland and offers unique services and adoption programs from those of mainland China. Hong Kong was a dependent territory of the United Kingdom until 1997. This is why so many of the current systems and influences are European. Hong Kong is a business hub of the world and a financial giant with a
capitalist economy.
In 1999, Bethany started working with Mother’s Choice, a Christian social services agency, to place children with special needs. For a variety of reasons, these children have little chance of being adopted in Hong Kong due to their birth histories or disabilities. In 2004, we also started to work with International Social Services (ISS) of Hong Kong. ISS is a non-government subsidized agency whose programs are much like those of Mother’s Choice. Both agencies provide a variety of social services, which include:
- Foster Care
- Adoption (both Domestic and Intercountry)
- Pregnancy Counseling
- Migrant Counseling and more
Both adoption programs in Hong Kong focus on children with special needs, and we have many who are waiting for a family. The information we receive and the staff’s dedication and professionalism is unparalleled!
