Aaron and Mindy - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
PLACEMENT!!
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read a short story about who we are. We hope that you will gain a sense of us as individuals, as a couple, and the type of parents we hope to be. Although we can never understand how you must be feeling, we appreciate the strength and love you have displayed in choosing adoption for your baby. After trying to conceive for five years, we came to realize that God has a different plan for us in becoming parents.
How we met
Although Aaron grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Rhode Island, close to Mindy’s home town. While out with friends karoaking one night, Aaron saw Mindy walk in the door and he turned to his friend and said "she is the one for me". Ironically enough, Mindy was hanging out with a longtime friend of Aaron’s, which provided him the opportunity to walk up to the group and strike up a conversation with her. He began talking with the whole group and eventually made his way into Mindy’s heart. Aaron and Mindy were friends for six months before they began to date and married three years later and continue to be best friends.
About Aaron (From Mindy)
Although Aaron is the oldest of three, he is a kid at heart. He likes to have fun and is well liked by the children of our friends and families. He is not afraid to get down on the ground and play in the dirt with the kids! Despite Aaron’s Peter Pan qualities, he is also a very intelligent, loving, and compassionate man. He has a head full of what some people might call “useless knowledge”, but this enables him to talk to anyone at anytime. This great aspect of his personality also aides him in his career where he deals with many different types of people. His love and compassion for me, our families, and others, is unconditional. He is always there to help those in need and lend a helping hand. I find that I fall in love with him more and more every day. I long for the day that Aaron will be called “daddy” because I feel that he has been a great husband and will be a wonderful father.
About Mindy (From Aaron)
Mindy is not only my soul mate but is also the oldest of 3 children. She has one brother and one sister. There is not enough time for me to explain what I love about Mindy and why God chose her for my wife and mother of my children. Her smile is what told me she was the one. She is a special educator who has patients, understanding, compassion, sympathy, but also expects respect. She has morals and ethics and understands how they are needed to be conveyed to others especially children. She understands that there are times to be serious but can also let her hair down and try new things and have fun. She is big on education and helping people to become independent as well as establishing self-esteem. My only hope is that when you read this and look at the pictures that you can see her from the inside and what a spectacular woman she is and what an exceptional mother she would make.
Our Families
We spent the first seven years of our lives together in Rhode Island where Mindy grew up and her family continues to reside. We recently decided to return to Pennsylvania and Aaron’s home town. It has been exciting returning home after being gone for many years. Since our move to PA, we have reunited with many of Aaron’s childhood friends and all of his family is still in the area. Mindy’s family was supportive of our decision to move to PA and we visit each other often. We like to split the holidays or include both families together so we can keep both families traditions alive. We have been very open about our adoptive journey with our family and friends and they are just as anxious as we are for the day when we become parents.
Our Faith
We currently are members of a church that we attend regularly. This is the same church Aaron had attended since being dedicated their as an infant. He has many fond memories of the church, as well as the summer camp and being part of the youth group. We have made some new memories in the few short years we have been attending together. Since we began attending regularly, we have found the members of the church to be very welcoming to the both of us and have provided us with great support and understanding of the scripture.
About Our Home and Us As A Couple
When moving back to Pennsylvania, we decided to purchase a “fixer-upper” and have been having a great time working with family and friends to remodel it. It is simply amazing how buying this home has showed us how much of a support system we truly have here. Everyone has been quick to help out when needed. Our three-bedroom home is located on four acres, on a dead-end road, in a small suburban town. When we’re not busy painting or laying tile, we enjoy just spending time hanging out with family and friends. We like to take weekend get-a-ways together to nearby small towns, camping, four –wheeling, or just spend the day hiking, watching movies, reading, and spending time with our pets Toby and Zoe (our two cats), and Dempsey (our Boxer). Although the cats tend to keep to themselves, Dempsey is a great companion, who never wants to leave our sides. He is great with other dogs and loves to plays hide-and-seek or fetch with children.
In Closing
Thank you for taking the time to read about who we are in your search for parents for your child. We hope we have provided you with a clear picture of who we are as individuals and as a couple. If you choose us to parent your child, please feel confident that we will provide a home filled with love, compassion, and support. We understand that God has a plan for all of us and pray that his plan will lead us together to fulfill our passion to become parents. God bless you through your journey.
Sincerely,
Aaron and Mindy
