China

Overview

Welcome to the China adoption program. Growing your family through intercountry adoption is an incredible journey, and we consider it a privilege to work with you. Bethany’s China team is committed to providing you with the resources you will need.

Our team is committed to the children in China and to you, the adoptive family. We hope that your adoption experience will have a powerfully positive impact on your life.

Our China adoption program began in 1992. All adoptions in China are processed through the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) in Beijing, China. Orphanages throughout the country refer children to CCAA who then matches a child with each waiting family. Bethany Christian Services has a full-service China adoption program, and we work directly with CCAA.

The adoptable children in China are typically abandoned or orphaned shortly after birth. On average, the children are 10-14 months old at placement and are typically female. Most of the children are healthy, while others have special needs that may qualify them as Special Needs Waiting Children. The majority of the children live in orphanages and may have some developmental or institutionalized delays.
