Hong Kong

Overview

Welcome to the Hong Kong adoption program. Growing your family through intercountry adoption is an incredible journey, and we consider it a privilege to work with you. Bethany’s Hong Kong team is committed to providing you with the resources you will need to adopt a child with special placement needs from this program.

Our team is dedicated to the children in Hong Kong and to you, the adoptive family. We hope that your adoption experience will have a powerfully positive impact on your life.

Our Hong Kong program is a great program for families accepting of children with moderate to severe special needs. Many of the waiting children have Down syndrome. Other children have special needs varying from blindness, cerebral palsy, older kids (with significant histories) or non-correctable medical problems. It is extremely rare that we receive a referral from Hong Kong of a child who has minor or correctable needs. Also, we have children waiting of all ages, but many more boys are waiting than girls.

Bethany Christian Services began to facilitate adoptions from Hong Kong in 1999. We started working with Mother’s Choice, a Christian social service agency, to place children with special placement needs. These children, for a variety of reasons, have little chance of being adopted in Hong Kong.

Additionally, in 2004 we started working with ISS (International Social Services) of Hong Kong. ISS is a non-governmental subsidized agency. Both agencies provide a variety of social services, which include foster care, adoption (both domestic and intercountry), pregnancy counseling, migrant counseling, and more. Both adoption programs from Hong Kong feature children with special placement needs. The staff’s dedication to these special children is unparalleled!

We encourage you to contact your nearest Bethany branch for assistance. Bethany is eager to help you adopt a child from Hong Kong!
