Children Waiting for Families
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27 NIV

It’s a
new year…a time for renewal and hope for children around the world.
Thanks to generous donors, in 2009 Bethany was able to grant more than
$700,000 to assist families who adopted Waiting Children.
Also in 2009,
Brittany’s Hope Foundation granted
$245,000 to families who adopted Waiting Children through Bethany.
With the help of hundreds of
Prayer Warriors and
dedicated Bethany staff, more than
200 Waiting Children found families in 2009.
Currently, Bethany has more than
300 children who have been referred to us.
They have no permanent family and are legally free to be adopted.
These children come to us for a variety of reasons: They may be more than four years old or may be a sibling group. We also receive referrals for children who have medical, physical, or developmental challenges. Some of the children come from a background of neglect, abuse, or trauma.
Bethany is committed to finding families for children who would otherwise live hopeless, helpless lives. We are one of the largest agencies in the U.S. who serve the Waiting Child.
ANNOUNCING our third special needs “Hope Camp” in China. The China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) developed “Hope Camps” in 2008 to help promote the adoption of Waiting Children. The children are typically older and/or have some moderate to significant, identified needs. The first two camps the CCAA invited us to participate in were held in Beijing and Shanghai. Due to the great success and our commitment to Waiting Children, in December 2009, we again sent Bethany social workers to an orphanage in Beijing to assess
81 children. All have been exclusively referred to Bethany and are waiting for families.
