Bethany recently became licensed in Ethiopia to offer adoption as well as humanitarian aide for children and families of Ethiopia. Our Ethiopia adoption program began in 2007
. Bethany’s Director in Ethiopia is Mekonnen Batisso. He works closely with the Ethiopian government and authorities to assure that each adoption progresses as smoothly as possible.
Please keep in mind that intercountry adoption is dynamic and unpredictable. As a newer program, there are greater unknowns with the Ethiopian program than with other Bethany adoption programs. Unexpected changes in time frames, laws, and procedures are far more likely when working in a new country. Families must be flexible, open-minded, and comfortable with uncertainty regarding their adoption process.
Based on our experience in adoption, guidance from government officials, and our Ethiopia Director, Bethany has outlined the adoption process for our Ethiopian program. We will provide you with updated information throughout the process and inform you about changes that may affect your adoption.
