Chuck and Renee - Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Hi! We are Charles (Chuck) and Renee. Our daughter’s name is Sophia. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, and considering us as you make a plan for your baby’s future. We hope that this letter will give you some insight into our life as a family, but first we would like to start by saying that we admire you tremendously for considering an adoption plan for your baby! We can’t imagine what a difficult time this is for you, and pray that you will have peace and comfort while making your decision.
A Little Bit about Us: Our story together begins as high school sweethearts. We first met at a church youth group, but it wasn’t until physics class our junior year that we became close friends and our relationship sparked. We have now been together for sixteen years and married for nine. Like most couples, we always planned to have children. As the years passed and we went through the struggles of infertility, we finally came to realize that having a biological child was not God’s plan for us. Instead, we recognize that His plan for us is to have children through adoption. We adopted our daughter, Sophia, in June of 2006. We were ecstatic! She has brought us immeasurable joy and happiness. That is why we look forward to growing our family through adoption again! As we await a second child, we are enjoying many of our shared family interests such as traveling, hiking, biking, canoeing, gardening, dining out, and attending classic car shows. We are also involved in several ministries at our church; our focus being on the JR and SR high youth group. Sophia has become the group’s “mascot”. Our church family is very important to all of us and has been a great source of encouragement!
Chuck: I grew up in Pennsylvania as the oldest of three boys. Some of my favorite childhood memories involve exploring in the woods near my house, and vacationing at the beach in California with my family. I would describe myself as easy going, fun loving, and humorous. I enjoy hands on projects, and spend a lot of time working in the yard and around our home. A strong mechanical aptitude and my interest in being a “hands on guy” led me to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. I now spend my workweek as a product design engineer for an aircraft propeller company. Some of my personal hobbies include playing sports (particularly soccer and volleyball), restoring my 1956 Ford F-100 pickup truck, and playing video games.
Renee says, “Chuck is handsome, caring, confident, patient, flexible, and funny. He is a natural leader that others look up to and respect. He listens to people’s concerns and is tolerant of unforeseen setbacks that come his way. He is also always ready to whip out his array of impressions that has everyone in stitches. In addition, he is a first-rate daddy! He brightens all my days!”
Renee: I grew up in Florida as an only child. Some of my favorite childhood memories are in the water, whether at the beach or in the pool. I also enjoyed cheerleading and dance. I would describe myself as outgoing, compassionate, sensitive and energetic. It is these characteristics that lead me to choose a career where I could help people. I got my college degree in Recreational Therapy with a minor in psychology, and worked in the field for 8 years. I am currently a stay-at-home mom (my best job ever), so my days are filled with planning creative activities with Sophia. In addition, I do work one day a week as a youth support program facilitator, running small groups in the school system for children who are at high risk for drug dependence and difficult futures. Some of my personal hobbies include singing, dancing, playing the piano, crafts, decorating, knitting.
Chuck says, “Renee is beautiful, loving, caring and bursting with energy. She is a truly compassionate person who desires the best for everyone, and is an excellent mother. She is my best friend and she makes me very happy. I love her with all my heart.”
Sophia: I am 3 years old, have bright blue eyes, and strawberry blond hair. My mommy and daddy say that I am a fun, spunky, vivacious, and caring little girl with eyes that sparkle and a smile that warms anyone's heart! I don't know about all that, but I do know that I love people, both big and small. I'm really good at remembering names. My favorite stuffed animal is Mr Teddy, who was given to me by my birthmom. He goes everywhere with me! My favorite activities are playing outside (in the pool, on the swings, in the sandbox), reading books, playing dolls, and doing puzzles. I also enjoy going to toddler gym at church and playing with my grandparents and cousins! I like to be a big helper around the house as well. I help mommy with dishes, meals, and grocery shopping and I help daddy with fix-it projects. I make an excellent flashlight holder and can really work a screwdriver! My biggest accomplishment thus far…potty training!
Other tidbits: We both come from close, supportive families who love spending time together; whether it’s for a holiday, a birthday, or just to have fun. We are also blessed with wonderful friends, with whom we share many of our hobbies and cherish greatly! Our home is a quaint three-bedroom, two-bath brick rancher. It is located in a quiet, established neighborhood. We have put a lot of effort into updating and renovating our home to make it just what we want. We live on a ½ acre with a fenced-in back yard, which makes for a great entertaining spot over the summer months. We’ve also added a small pond which is home to our two pet fish. Our neighborhood also has a central park within walking distance from our home, where we like to take walks on the walking paths, play on the playgrounds, and watch the various ball games in progress.
Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to share a little about ourselves with you. If you were to select us, we would feel honored and thrilled to welcome your child into our hearts and our home. Our goal as parents is to raise a child with unconditional love and Godly principles. We also intend to teach him/her how to become a responsible, honest, and caring individual who has self-confidence and a zeal for life. No matter what your decision, we wish you the best during this time and in the future, and hope that you always feel God’s loving reassurance with your choice!
