  1. Adoptive couple attends Orientation.
  2. Adoptive family submits Formal Application with non-refundable fee.
  3. Application is reviewed and contract is sent for approval and signature.
  4. Contract is reviewed and approved by the Director and case is assigned to an adoption worker.
  5. An initial homework packet is sent out; the assigned worker contacts the family to arrange an initial interview once completed packet is received.
  6. The assigned worker meets with the family for joint and individual interviews and a home visit; the non-refundable assessment fee is due at the first interview.
  7. Background screening checks are completed, file is completed and home study is completed.
  8. Home study is approved by Director.

  12. Adoptive family is chosen by a birthmother, meets with the birthmother (generally) and establishes some form of a relationship and communication with the birthmother.
  13. Child is born and placed with the adoptive family. Placement fee is due.
  14. Birthparent’s rights are formally terminated in court.
  15. Post-placement visits take place (one every 30 days until finalization occurs).
