Ben and Apryl - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

Hello,
We want you to know we admire you for considering adoption. We cannot imagine what must be going through your mind. We hope that you find peace and comfort in your decision and know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about us. Our names are Ben, Apryl and Owen. After having our son in 2005 the doctors told us we were unable to have any more biological children. We were devastated. We had one little guy who we loved more than the world and we could not imagine living our lives without another child to love and care for. Before we left the hospital with Owen, Ben told the doctor “I want another one”. Without the option to have another child ourselves, we turned toward adoption.

Our Home
We bought the house Ben grew up in a few years ago when his mother got remarried. We have been enjoying the country ever since! Ben knows most of the neighbors well so it is never hard to find a helping hand when we need one. Our church is only a mile down the road which is the same church Ben grew up attending as a child. The community is very close to each other so we feel very welcome and safe. Our house is on a dead end road with an acre of land so there is plenty of room to run around and play. In the warmer months we often eat dinner on our patio and enjoy being outside. We are blessed to have a spacious home with four bedrooms upstairs. Off the back of our property is a large corn field and apple orchard. The next house down the road has a small family run farm market. It is on the honor system so you just drop your money in the bucket on the way out.

Our Church and our Faith
With our church being a mile down the road there is never an “excuse” not to attend (or be late). We think it is very important for our children to attend church and learn about God from a very young age. We want to make sure they know how important faith is in our lives and we hope that they will develop that same faith by watching us. The members of the church are very welcoming and friendly. The Church is very focused on children, which is a large part of why we enjoy attending. There is Sunday school in between services and during each service there is a “children’s message” where all the small children go up in front and the youth minister does a mini sermon just for them.

Our Parenting Style
We strongly believe that each child has their own personality, own needs, own way of viewing life, own way of learning and their own way of expressing themselves. We look to Owen to lead us down the path that will let him be who he is. We guide him so that he will have a strong self-esteem, good morals and curiosity for life. We encourage him to try new things but let him decide what he likes. We let him make decisions but teach him right from wrong. We show him new things but also let him learn by exploring on his own. If you trust us with your baby we promise we will raise them the best way that is right for them, for who they are.

Ben (by Apryl)
Ben is always making everyone laugh. He has no trouble meeting new people. It does not matter where we go, he is always stopping to talk to someone. Whenever we stop by a friend’s house their children love “uncle Ben” and are always asking him to play. He is funny, easy going and always goofing around. He is also extremely caring and concerned about his family. He puts Owen & I first and is a wonderful dad. He helps with everything Owen needs – bath time, changing diapers, dinner time. He is always doing silly things to make Owen laugh. My favorite sound is hearing them both giggling in the living room.

Apryl (by Ben)
What can I say about Apryl? She is a beautiful, loving mother and wife. Apryl is very strong willed and intelligent. She is definitely the backbone of our family; she is cool, calm and always has everyone’s best interests in mind. It is nice to see how strong of a bond Owen and Apryl have. Many time’s Owen will just walk over to Apryl and ask “uppee” just so he can cuddle with his mommy. They have a lot of laughs together and enjoy hanging out reading books or playing with his trains. She has a great sense of humor (she has to, she’s married to me!) and brings a smile to your face just by looking at her. Apryl is my best friend and I could not imagine a world without her in it. She would be so proud and grateful to be a mother to your child.

Thank you for what you are doing and the decision you are making. Thank you for having the courage that you have. Thank you for choosing life for your baby. Thank you for considering giving us such a precious gift that we hope and pray for everyday. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and consider us as parents for your child.
If you choose us as parents for your child we can not promise that we are perfect people or that we will be perfect parents. What we can promise you is that we will love your baby with all our hearts, that we will enjoy them and care for them the best way we know how, we will encourage them to try new things and parent them in the manor that is best for them. We will also make sure that you are a part of their lives. You are a part of who they are and they need to know how much you love them. I can imagine Owen one day asking why he is not “special enough” to have two moms like his brother or sister.
